I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself, and why I became a doula.
I have been married for more than 12 years and have four beautiful children. Each of my children's births was unique in its own way. It was always hard work for me, but so rewarding -- a challenge I learned to welcome.
I wanted to become a doula because through my own birthing experiences I became passionate about birth and women's needs during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and breastfeeding. My goal is to help as many women as possible have a beautiful and satisfying birth experience, knowing that they are able to make their own choices in their birthing. It's also important for women to know that birth is a natural process -- something our bodies were built for.
As a doula, I will support women and their husbands (or other partner) in the areas they need most, including encouragement and "coaching", physical support and comfort measures, breastfeeding, and supplying information as requested. My role can be a very active one or more of a "just being there" role -- whatever mom needs. Also, I am open to hospital, birth center, and home births.
Whether you're a new mom or experienced, I wish you the very best birth experience!
